CAROL THORNS – Electric Cellist
South Africa’s leading electric cellist Carol Thorns is known as a pioneer in the electric string genre. Her world-wide performances include opening for Vanessa Mae, performing for J Lo and sharing a stage with John Legend. This chameleon of cello-playing has created a series of extraordinary concepts to elevate the cello to new heights: The Bubble, The Galaxy Dress, CODA Africa and Rosanthorn Trio. Her solo album Fireflies in The Rain was nominated for a South African Music Award for Best Instrumental Album and her solo show Red Cello Electrified was awarded a 4 out of 5 star rating at the biggest Arts Festival in the world, The Edinburgh Fringe.With over 100 performances a year, Carol is in great demand as an electric cellist.
KIRSTEN ADAMS – Electric Violin
This exceptional electric violinist has broken into the SA Music Scene with her fresh, vigorous take on current and trending Pop and Dance Music. She effortlessly creates stylish Electric Violin arrangements of current radio hits, making for an instant and universally appealing corporate entertainment performance.
She studied violin under one of SA’s notably outstanding violin experts, Suzanne Martens at the Stellenbosch Konservatorium. She graduated her BMus degree in 2016 with Cum Laude and is currently studying her Masters in Music Composition. With her solid Classical Music background and her youthful creativity, she has been chosen to join the country’s top electric string experts in Red Cello Productions, SA’s leading music brand innovators. Kirsten appears as a solo electric violinist, in The Bubble and or in The Galaxy Dress.
GALINA J – Electric Violin (UK based)
Galina Juritz studied violin under Prof Farida Bacharova and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Performance from the University of Cape Town. During her professional career she has performed with numerous orchestras, chamber ensembles, fusion bands, dance productions and guested with some of the country’s top solo artists. In 2010 she started working with composer and performer Neo Muyanga and has since performed in his debut productions Memory of How it Feels and The Flower of Shembe. She has composed music for bands, chamber ensembles and short films, and often works as a session recording artist.
ANJULIE NOCK – Electric Cellist
Anjulie Nock is well known in the industry as both performer and recording artist. She has backed top national and international acts and her performance experience and versatility stretches from accompanying SA’s first POP IDOL Heinz Winkler to touring through England with the Royal Shakespeare Theatre Company. She was part of the all-female cross over folk band Zamar for three years, in which time they recorded two albums and performed at Huisgenoot Skouspel. Anjulie enjoys her work as a freelance artist. She is a regular performer at the annual Woordfees, National Arts Festivals and she contributed to the albums of Arno Carstens, Prime Circle and Die Heuwels Fantasties in 2016.
